Ficticious Dishes
For this assignment, inspired directly from the work of Dinah Fried and her book Fictitious Dishes, I chose the short story The Lottery Ticket by Anton Pavlovich Chekhovs.
Materials:
newspaper
Elements from the story:
Lime
Numbers
Newspaper
Noose
Fish
Mushrooms
Paper Stacking: Fruit Inventive
FRUIT
Materials:
Rives Gray Paper
Wood Glue
INVENTIVE
The process of my inventive paper stacking involved using the scraps from the cut circles of the coconut stacking. I wanted to somehow use the excess paper to create an object that would oppose the shape of the coconut yet still have an organic origin. Creating two organic shapes that are visually opposing yet made from the same paper and bezier curve was fascinating to me.

MEMENTO: Hurrican Mesa
For my memento piece I reflected upon my traveling adventures in northwestern Wyoming in the Absarokas. Using three materials this memento represents Hurricane Mesa, a mountainous "table" my group and I had traversed towards the summit. The hike consisted of walking over fallen boulders which conglomerated directly over a stream of glacial melt. Every couple of steps you could see the rushing water peering through the gaps of the grassy covered boulders. At the summit there was a plac documenting the coordinants, altitude, and name.
Elements + Materials
I used a flat chip of a concrete cinderblock to represent the mountain rock and the flat attributes of a mesa.
The head of a rusty nail was cut off and used to represent the plac found at the summit of Hurrican Mesa.
A cut piece of glass was shaped to the concrete and sanded on the edges then placed underneath so just the edges were revealed. This was representational of the glacial melt run off that flowed below the boulders.

HUMAN WRAPPED BODY
In this assignment I covered my body with a surf sock. The aim of my pictures were to portray organic shapes with as little resemblence to the human body. My main focus was to capture postures that would prompt the viewer to ask, "what is that" or "how did he do that". With slight wrinkles and shadows the viewer can infer the figure of a human body.
